| The Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX) is organizing a Sino-Spanish business cooperation and investment forum in collaboration with the Trade Commissions of Spain in Beijing and Shanghai, which will take place on 15 and 16 November 2007 in Beijing as part of the program of the planned visit by TRH the Prince and Princess of Asturias to this country.
This event is a continuation of the work begun with the Sino-Spanish business encounter in Guangzhou in 2001, the Sino-Spanish business encounter in Beijing in 2002, and the business cooperation and investment forums in Shanghai in 2005 and2006.
The principal objective is to help to identify business investment and cooperation opportunities as well as potential partners in China. Those attending the event will therefore have direct contact with business people from this country who are interested in establishing strategic business alliances with Spanish companies.
China is the fourth largest economy in the world and has solid economic fundamentals and an optimistic outlook for the next few years thanks to the continuous high levels of growth in investment and foreign trade and the support of the government to continue the reform process aimed at more balanced growth based on consumption, social policies and environmental protection. Its impressive growth, its enormous production capacity and the size of its market, as well as its membership of the WTO are just some of the variables that open up a wide range of opportunities for Spanish companies that are making this country a priority for the Spanish trade administration.
The priority sectors chosen for this forum have been selected from existing opportunities. They are: Agri-industry, biotechnology, automotive components, renewable energies, franchises, infrastructures and municipal services, environment (water treatment), logistics services, and tourism and related services.
