One megabyte broadband will have universal coverage in Spain from 1 January 2011, according to the Spanish Minister of Industry, Tourism and Trade, Miguel Sebastián, during his speech at the opening of the third edition of FICOD, the international forum on digital content, which takes place in Madrid.
Miguel Sebastián guaranteed that in 2010 the digital content industry will continue to be one of the priorities of his department. Such promises will be supported by a budget of €100 million, which will lead to a further €300 million during the year.
The Association of Internet Users and the Association of Communication Users expressed their satisfaction at the news since it will benefit the four million inhabitants that do not currently have access to this service.
