International fashion is searching for new Balenciagas – the revered Spanish designer – who has become the inspiration for Art & Fashion, a competition for young fashion designers that holds its second edition this year. According to the organizers, the event is expected to beat last year’s figures, which received 500 entrants from 33 countries.
The initiative aims to put Spain on the international fashion map and to highlight the link between this type of design and art. The advisory board of Art & Fashion includes figures such as architect Zaha Hadid and the entrepreneur and journalist Covadonga O’Shea.
The entity has also set up the Bilboost social network to promote communication between young fashion talent and so that established fashion houses can access it to discover the work of the designers of the future.
One of the first contacts that has been established is with the Marangoni fashion school in Milan, which will offer grants for young designers.
