Spanair, Singapore Airlines consider operating under code share agreement

Singapore Airlines is studying an agreement with Spanair, its Spanish Star Alliance partner, with which it is holding preliminary talks to operate some of its flights between Barcelona and Singapore under the code share program, according to a press release from the Asian airline.

It is also looking into the possibility of extending the route it operates between Barcelona and Singapore to Madrid, which would involve eliminating that flight’s current layover in Milan and, especially, creating an operations center for the Asian airline in Barcelona.

The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft operated by Singapore Airlines in Barcelona is currently the largest of all the airplanes that fly into Barcelona’s airport.

In Madrid, the airline continues to work on the studies that show the viability of the project, and, if appropriate, it will request the corresponding aviation permits to extend its frequencies on some days to the Spanish capital as well, helping them to fill the 276 seats on their aircraft.
