Eleven Spanish railway sector companies will be looking for business opportunities in Brazil and Chile during the forthcoming trade mission organized by MAFEX, the Spanish association of exporting railway services, material and equipment manufacturers.
The objective is to strengthen exports of railway materials, equipment and services in these two markets, which are characterized by significant investment in the railway sector.
The promotion of Brazil’s Growth Acceleration Plan by the country’s president, Lula da Silva, has given a boost to Brazil’s strategic sectors with the aim of making Rio’s economy one of the most important in the world. The Brazilian government will allocate $39 million to railway restructuring, making the country highly attractive to companies in the sector.
Chile, for its part, is also an attractive market since it has not been significantly affected by the international crisis, growing by 0.4% in 2009.
