The World Architecture Festival Awards 2009 have recognized the Spanish pavilion for the Shanghai Expo 2010 with the Future Project of the Year award, according to Spanish news agency Europa Press.
The pavilion is the work of architect Benedetta Tagliabue, of the Barcelona-based Miralles-Tagliabue studio, who was a finalist last year with the project for the Gas Natural building in Barcelona, in the offices category.
The WAF recognizes the best recent examples of world architecture, it is part of a private initiative, and it is sponsored from London by publishing, engineering and construction firms. The work of the Spanish architect was chosen over 272 projects from 67 countries.
