The technology sector’s employers’ organization, Asimelec, has officially presented Spain’s Green IT technology platform, designed to help create new consortia to allow Spanish ICT companies to make the most of new business opportunities in the market. Asimelec unveiled this initiative during the first Spanish congress on the role of technologies in ensuring the planet’s sustainability.
The platform will bring together public and private interests. It is launching with a budget of €200,000, half of which has been provided by the Ministry of Industry, through its Avanza Plan. In the medium term, Green IT hopes to become a national leader in environmental and social R&D&I in the ICT field, according to a press release from Asimelec.
José María Azpuchueta, of the company Cegasa, will act as provisional president of the platform until its first general meeting.
