For a few days, Rioja is the meeting place for the most distinguished professionals in the wine sector from every continent in the world. The Wine Future Rioja convention reunites nearly a thousand experts, winery representatives, distributors, specialized journalists, students and some of the most influential people in the sector to this city in northern Spain, famous for the wine of the same name, according to the organizers.
Among those attending are American critic Robert Parker, whose commented tasting was one of the main events at the convention. Other participants included Mel Dick, distributor and one of the most powerful people in the industry; Gary Vainerchuk, responsible for the famous Wine Library website; critic Jancis Robinson, or wine education Kevin Zraly, the event organizer.
Topics discussed included the financial crisis, sales, the Internet and wine, press and critics, fairs and competitions, developing markets, and business opportunities with the environment.
