Spain has gone all out to promote its tourism sector at the World Travel Market in London, the world’s largest fair for this sector. A total of 323 Spanish institutions and companies have occupied 12% of the exhibition floor space, according to event organizers.
The Spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade has supported the Spanish presence at this event. Minister Miguel Sebastián said that “tourism is National policy in Spain”, at a press conference held after visiting the facilities, reports Spanish news agency EFE.
Sebastián mentioned the €1 billion for the Plan Renove and the €1 billion set aside for the FUTUR E plan, which aims to improve Spanish tourism infrastructures, offering extra quality and added value in Spanish tourism in the future. There is also the foreign promotion effort, which has increased by 13% in 2009 and “will increase 6% more in 2010”, he said.
