Spanish brand Bogaris has received the “Prestigio de Oro” award for the best extra virgin oil at Olivinus 09, the International Olive Oil Competition of Latin America, held in the city of Mendoza, Argentina, according to Chilean news agency Corfo Chile.
In this edition, 200 oils from 15 countries participated in Olivinus 09 in the different categories of the competition, which seeks to promote the beneficial properties of olive oil and its consumption in Latin America.
Bogaris Agriculture, the agroindustrial division at Bogaris, has nearly 1,000 hectares of olive groves in Latin America and some 5,000 hectares in Europe, making it one of the largest producers of extra virgin olive oil. In Latin America, Bogaris has three properties in Chile with 941 hectares planted, and in Portugal it is undertaking two of the most important modern olive grove projects in Europe: Herdade do Sobrado (1,430 hectares) as an intensive plantation and HERDADINHA (537 hectares) as a super-intensive plantation.
Bogaris applies the most advanced harvesting technology in the sector, such as the Colossus harvesting machines, and it has its own olive presses for the milling process. The company is headquartered in Seville, Spain, and its business module has led it to conduct its activities in countries such as Portugal, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland and Chile.
