A group of companies, including the Spanish San José group, is seeking to connect Argentina and Chile under the Andes mountain range with the construction of a 52 kilometer-long railroad tunnel, the Spanish company reports.
Known as the Corredor Bioceánico Aconcagua (“Aconcagua Two-Ocean Corredor”), valued at $3 billion (some €2.047 billion), it will also be used as a permanent corridor for commercial trade between the countries of Mercosur (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay) and the Asian Pacific.
The consortium is comprised of eight companies, including, in addition to the Spanish firm, Navieras de Chile, Mitsubishi and Brazil’s Odebrecht, which are working on this important project to present it to the tender through Corporación América (CASA).
With its participation in this project, San José moves forward in its strategy of promoting internationalization, one of the pillars of the business plan that the Spanish group is currently undertaking.
