Fernando Barrios Ipenza, the President of the Peru’s health and social security system, EsSalud, has called upon Spanish business leaders to invest in the planned projects to be carried out by his institution. Barrios Ipenza described the initiatives to be put into operation in his country during a business forum organized by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Spanish Government in Madrid.
Speaking during an interview with Spanish news agency Efe, Barrios Ipenza said his country needs private financing in order to build new hospital infrastructure and improve its management system through public-private partnerships.
The investment project involves the construction of seven hospitals, two of which two have already been awarded to a Spanish consortium.
