Spain and South Africa have confirmed the excellent relations between both countries at the Sixth Annual Bilateral Policy Consultations, during which an announcement was made for a 2010 meeting at the highest level between Spain Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and South African President Jacob Zuma.
According to Spanish news agency EFE, Spanish Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Ángel Lossada and South African Deputy Minister Sue Van der Merwe announced this meeting have an encounter in Madrid to discuss a variety of issues of mutual interest.
Lossada and Van der Merwe have taken the opportunity to discuss their opinions on the Football World Cup, which will be held in South Africa in 2010. The South African Government has turned to international partners, such as Spain, to ensure that it is a successful event.
As regards Spanish investments in South Africa, the South African representative said that there are opportunities in areas such as renewable energies.
