Paradores exports its business model overseas

The Spanish hotel chain Paradores is in negotiations with various countries to export its know-how in refurbishing buildings of historical and artistic interest and converting them into hotels while preserving their heritage value. The conversations are fairly advanced and will probably lead to an agreement being signed by the end of the year, according to the newspaper Cinco Días.

Paradores is also weighing up the possibility of directly managing establishments in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Mexico, Morocco, Georgia and Iran, given the interest of these countries, which have rich artistic and cultural heritage. There could even be agreements with the first two countries by the end of 2009, according to the newspaper.

The establishments they are offering belong to their national heritage systems, and are not currently in a condition to operate as hotel businesses, but would be remodeled according to Paradores standards to be adapted to its business formula.

Paradores has 93 establishments throughout Spain, which all have high historic and artistic value and are located in unique settings.
